Economic crisis boosts e-commerce and online marketing - La crisis económica impulsa el comercio electrónico y el Marketing online

Internet as a lever to overcome the global economic crisis that began in 2008

Three years ago began the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression remember, despite this negative environment, online commerce continues to grow steadily, as one of the few drivers of growth of the economy. It is also clear that consumers will adapt their habits.

The Spanish impulsive buyer of the boom years, it has happened now a mature digital consumer, who uses the Internet to learn more and buy more selectively. As a logical consequence Moreover, these three years have seen the emergence of online savings community as Sergio highlights Garas, CEO of MundoOfertas, one of the most popular community-oriented promotions and e-commerce online.

Internet and is the third advertising medium, behind TV and newspapers and radio ahead and magazines. According to the IAB Spain and 11.6 per cent of the advertising pie.

Recession pushes savings online communities and electronic commerce after the data is consolidated in the first quarter of the CMT that point to a historical sales turnover of EUR 1669.92 million, 34 percent more than the same period of 2009

Despite the recession in our country, situated in a context of global crises, it seems clear that the development of Internet is one of the values of our economy stronger. In the first half of 2010, online advertising in Spain has charged 152 M €, 13.5% more than the same period last year, according to estimates by the consultant InfoAdex.

On the Net turnover is the third medium, behind TV and newspapers and in front of the radio or magazines. For his part, Spanish E-commerce closed 2009 with a volume of nearly 5800 € Mill, growing at 11%. This office has been a great development potential if he can improve three key aspects: Extend the range of products and services, achieving competitive prices online and provide superior service quality to the traditional in our country.

Online marketing is key to online business development

Given the current limitations of e-commerce volume Spanish, health is key in online marketing as a second means of financing and growth for these business models development of Internet advertising in 2010 certainly affect the pressure on the sector to models payment, free or mixed. The first network is the total communication channel between the two groups, taking and bringing information and opinions purchases and forth in real time.

Internet can improve the efficiencies of marketing campaigns, obtaining its targeting ability and interactivity, a return on investment of more than one-way media. In a context in which the whole economy falls by 4% year marketing and Spanish e-commerce grew by 8.6% and 13.2 respectively, the figure emerges online saver, a more mature consumer: Reported and prudent in their purchase, and online communities clustered around e-commerce oriented.

The crisis pushes e-commerce: a historical record T 2010, Best Buy

Another fact that indicates the specific gravity of the Internet is given by the data provided from the CMT. If last year's sale and purchase digital goods and services via credit cards (credit and debit) marked the year 2009 in Spain € 5751.7 million, an increase of 11% compared to 2008. For this 2010, data from the first quarter reinforce this trend: E-commerce Jan-Mar 2010 in Spain 1669.92 million euros turnover, the highest so far achieved income, after increasing 34.75% over the same quarter the previous year.

The success of electronic commerce is also translated into a new record in number of transactions, total 23.55 million, the amount of online transactions, a 56.17% higher than the same quarter last year, confirmed and recorded the jump between October and December 2009, when there were 22.11 million transactions.

Digital commerce revenues remained concentrated in transactions related to tourism, that cemented 29.8% of total turnover to EUR 497.64 million. It is air transportation (14.9%), travel agencies and tour operators (8.2%) and land transport of passengers (6.7%).

Direct marketing, which since the second quarter of last year ranked number two in turnover, this time dropped to third with 125.24 million. Gambling and betting, meanwhile, fell from third to fifth place with 105.2 million.

Turnover from overseas to Spanish sites increased 1.6% over the same period last year. In total, foreigners bought goods and services in Spanish Internet sites worth 175.97 million euros. These operations to Spanish sites, together with those made from Spain to Spanish webs, resulted in the first quarter of 2010, 53.3% of total turnover (10.5% of the external, 42.8%, the internal), 891 2 million euros. The real hitch was, therefore, on purchases made by the Spanish in the Spanish trade, which increased by 58, 46% to reach 715.23 million euros. Are the numbers of mature Spanish digital consumer, review, compare and select the most appropriate purchase to your needs.

On the other hand, transactions originated in Spain and focused international destination for 46.6% of online trade. That is: For every 10 € the Spanish buy online, we spend almost 5 € abroad. Again the mature consumer who knows Spanish digital search the network you need, whether buying in Spain, is abroad.

The EU continued as a favorite destination for Spanish buyers, with a volume of 685.5 million euros (88% of expenditure outside of Spain), followed by USA, which hosted 47.9 million (6.1 %). Conversely, Spanish digital shops that manage to compete and sell successfully abroad: The European Union and the United States were the geographic areas most goods bought in them. Europeans spent 136.8 million euros (77.7% of total foreign) and Americans spent $ 13.6 million (7.7%).

"This lack of competitiveness of the domestic online commerce, which lost nearly 50% of domestic demand is a huge drain that the Spanish economy can not afford, and urgently needed means business, legal and tax to reduce" explains Sergio Garas.

The crisis and the consumer: it consolidates the online saver

The consumer and surfer, also change their habits on the Web Internet not only assumes the possibility to buy cheaper, but mainly buy better. In the current environment of reduced consumer spending, thus seems to ignore the only channel that allows any small company to compete as equals on the computer screen with the most powerful multinational is a very high risk. Moreover, each time when the Internet user enters more often in the Spanish network -10,000,000 do it every day, looking for products, compare offers and services, buying directly or by choosing to visit shop. Therefore, the added value lies in Internet cares:

a) More information before buying: We report detailed information of each product to buy. More so the more valuable the product concerned. Anecdotally, in recent years is common in car dealers visit customers who know data and deeper aspects of the car you are considering purchasing the vendor of the house. It also compares data thoroughly houses or mortgages before visiting any bank. And in almost any major purchase.

b) Test the product before you buy it through the network, we can easily claim online at home free trial services of a vehicle or sending free samples of products (cosmetics, colognes, cleaning products, hygiene, etc. ..) . Two out of three Spanish looking product samples online.

c) Learn to select and compare prices and products: There are portals and online communities that allow both to discover offers and discounts on products that interest us, or even the details of the price of several alternative shops. Each of these portals consolidated receives hundreds of thousands of Spanish visits each month, and grow at a rapid pace.
